Did you know that in the province of Alicante there are still vestiges of the extensive dune systems that once bordered its coast? The Molino del Agua Natural Area, in La Mata, a unique enclave that invites you to discover this valuable natural heritage.
Now you can visit it completely FREE.

In its barely 17 hectares, declared a protected area in 2006, all the types of dunes that exist are condensed, from the embryonic and mobile ones by the sea to those stabilized with Aleppo and stone pines in the interior. An authentic microcosm that houses a rich biodiversity of flora and fauna.

Among its star inhabitants is the endemic beetle Paratriodonta alicantina, a true jewel of the region. We can also observe the Kentish Plover, a small protected wading bird that breeds on our coasts and is threatened by the presence of bathers in its nesting areas.

In the heart of the area is a replica of the Molino del Agua, one of the few fresh water wells that existed near the coast. With documentary references dating back to 1797, this mill was used by workers in the salt industry. Today, its waters are salinized, reminding us of the close relationship between this enclave and the history of the region.

The Molino del Agua Natural Park offers you guided tours so you can learn more about its secrets. An unforgettable experience for nature lovers, families and adventurers.
