Parks in Torrevieja: the best places to enjoy the outdoors
Torrevieja isn't just about beaches and salt flats. The city holds true green treasures scattered throughout its landscape. Over the years, I've explored every corner and can say that each park has its own unique character: some invite sports, others offer tranquility, and others are pure adventure for children.
The best parks in Torrevieja
Torrevieja is a vibrant city, where parks are as important as its beaches. If you plan to visit, spend at least a day exploring them:
Garden of Nations: the classic with the giant dragon
The Parque de las Naciones park is undoubtedly the most iconic. Its enormous, nearly five-meter-long dragon slide is an irresistible attraction for little ones (and for more than a few nostalgic adults).
In the center, a lake shaped like the map of the European Union brings the surroundings to life with ducks, swans, peacocks, and sea turtles.
When I visited, I was surprised by how peaceful it was despite its popularity. There are petanque courts and spacious walking areas, ideal for families. It's the perfect park to spend the afternoon and let the kids explore freely.
Balcones Park: sports and fun for everyone
If you're looking for a place to get active, Parque de los Balcones is the most complete. It has a futsal court, four ping-pong tables, two basketball courts, eight petanque courts, and a running track that runs around the entire park.
There's even a skating area and outdoor exercise equipment, along with a children's area with beach-style sand.
When I was there, I was impressed to see families, athletes, and groups of friends sharing the same space without crowding: a perfect combination of leisure and physical activity.
Station Park: the urban and skater essence of Torrevieja
This park originated from the abandoned train station and is now a popular gathering place for skaters. Its only skate park in the city makes it a special place.
In addition to its urban feel, it retains some of the industrial charm of the original building, making it a unique place for strolling or taking photos with a twist.

Siesta Park: adrenaline on wheels

Siesta Park is one of the newest additions and boasts the largest pump track in Europe.
Whether you enjoy cycling, scooters, or inline skating, this park is pure energy. The first time I visited, I was amazed by the quality of its facilities and how well the green areas are integrated with the sports areas.
Aromatic Park: the quietest and most sensorial corner
When I'm looking to unwind, my go-to is the Aromatic Park. It's a place designed for relaxation among lavender, rosemary, and other Mediterranean plants. The gentle paths and fragrant air make it an ideal space for strolling or meditating.
I wouldn't know how to choose just one of Torrevieja's parks, but this one is undoubtedly the one that best conveys calm and connection with nature.
Other green spaces and practical tips
In addition to the large parks, Torrevieja offers small gardens and rest areas scattered throughout the city. Some even have pet-friendly areas or viewing points overlooking the La Mata and Torrevieja lagoons.
Local tip: If you're traveling with children, bring water and sunscreen; many parks are spacious and sunny. And if you're interested in sports, Los Balcones and La Siesta parks are unbeatable.
What is the best park in Torrevieja?
It depends on what you are looking for:
Family fun: Nations Park.
Sports: Balcones Park or La Siesta.
Tranquility: Aromatic Park.
Urban atmosphere: Station Park.
My advice: don't choose, collect them all. Each one has something special that makes it unique.
